Dato Robert Geneid

Dato Robert Geneid was born in Sydney, Australia in 1954. In 1976, he obtained his BA (Civil Engineering) from the University of New South Wales. He then took up studies at UNSW in the 1980s, and in 1985, he receives his BA (Hons) LLB. Dato Robert was among the few people at the time with degrees in both Law and Civil Engineering. He is also one of the youngest ever Fellows of the Institution of Engineers Australia.

Dato Robert Geneid was also a partner at leading Australian law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques, where he was in charge of the commercial side of the Firm’s project and construction division in the Indonesian, Malaysian and Singaporean markets.

In terms of tourism in general and eco-tourism in particular, Dato Robert Geneid has developed the Miri Marriott Resort and Spa, and the Royal Mulu Resort both international hotels.

Dato Robert has also served as a Board Member of Tourism Malaysia since June 2009. He has been serving as a Board Member of the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau since September 2010. He is also on the Board of Directors at the Sarawak Convention Bureau.

Dato Robert Geneid is very much a family man. He is happily married and with seven children. The family lives in Kuching, the capital Sarawak. Dato Robert is a keen tennis player and cyclist. He also enjoys trekking in the majestic jungles of Malaysia and the region.
